Glass and mirror installation at Star Glass LLC covers two kinds of custom work outside the shower: mirrors cut to fit a vanity, wall or room, and glass partitions that divide a room without a solid wall. It is for homeowners who want glass made to their space, and for contractors who need a licensed glass installer on a job.

We work across northern and central New Jersey. Every job is measured in the room where the glass will go, so the glass fits the wall you actually have.

The glass and mirror work we do

A glass partition splits a room without building a wall. It is made in clear, low-iron or frosted glass. A custom mirror is cut from 1/4-inch mirror glass to fit a vanity, a wall or a whole room.

Our main work is frameless shower doors and glass stair railings. If your job involves one of those, the same visit can cover it.

How a custom glass job runs

A custom job has three parts. We measure on site, the glass is made to size, and we install it.

We come to the room, bring glass samples, and ask what you plan to use the glass for. We measure the opening or wall and tell you if a layout you have in mind is not the best one for the space. Walls are often not straight, square or plumb, so measuring on site matters more than working from a drawing.

Once the numbers are set, the glass is made to size. Tempered glass cannot be cut or drilled after it is tempered, so there is no trimming it at the job. That is why we measure first. Then our crew installs it.

Where a glass partition makes sense

A glass partition makes sense when you want to divide a space and keep the light. Common cases are a home office in a larger room, a play area you can see into from the kitchen, and a finished basement split into zones.

You pick clear, low-iron or frosted glass. Clear keeps the room open. Frosted gives privacy. Low-iron is clearer than standard glass and costs noticeably more.

Where a custom mirror goes

A custom mirror can cover a bathroom vanity, a hall wall, a home gym or a dressing area. It is cut to the size you need, so you are not limited to stock sizes.

We cut 1/4-inch mirror in five types: clear, bronze, grey, low-iron and mirrorpane. Each one reflects a little differently, and we bring samples so you can compare them in your own light.

Questions about this work

Can you cut glass or a mirror without measuring on site?

No. Star Glass measures on site first. Walls and openings are rarely perfectly square, and tempered glass cannot be changed after it is made, so a measurement from a drawing is a risk we do not take.

Do you work with contractors on glass and mirror jobs?

Yes. Star Glass is a licensed New Jersey glass contractor, license 13VH13775400, and we take jobs from homeowners and from contractors and builders across northern and central New Jersey.

Can one visit cover a mirror and a partition?

Yes. Tell us about both when you call and we measure for both on the same visit. If you also need a shower door or a railing, the same visit can cover that too.

What drives the price of custom glass or a mirror?

Size first, then the type of glass or mirror, any cutouts or polished edges, and how it is mounted. Star Glass gives you a firm price after measuring in your home.
