A sliding shower door is a frameless shower door with one or two glass panels that roll along a bar mounted at the top. Nothing swings into the room, so it fits a bathroom where a hinged door would hit the toilet or vanity, and it is the usual choice over a bathtub.
Star Glass LLC measures the opening, has the glass made and installs the rail, rollers and panels in homes across northern and central New Jersey. The hardware comes in the same finishes as our swing shower doors.
Where a sliding shower door makes sense
Tub-and-shower combinations, long alcoves and tight bathrooms. If you have been living with a shower curtain because a door would not clear something in the room, a slider usually solves it.
- Bathtub enclosures
- Alcove showers 48 inches and wider
- Bathrooms with no clearance for a swinging door
Frameless slider vs. the old framed kind
Older sliding doors ran in a metal track along the tub edge that collected grime and was hard to clean. A frameless slider hangs from a single top bar with exposed rollers, and the bottom has only a small guide. The glass is thicker, the look is cleaner and there is no bottom channel to scrub.
Glass and hardware choices
Clear, low-iron or frosted glass in 3/8 inch thickness. Hardware comes in satin brass, matte black, chrome, brushed nickel, oil rubbed bronze, polished nickel and brushed bronze. We bring samples to the visit so you can hold them next to your faucet.
What happens after you call
You call or send the quote form with a photo. We visit, measure, and talk through which panel slides and which stays fixed. The glass is made to those measurements and we come back to install it. If the bathroom is mid-remodel, see shower glass for bathroom remodels for when to call.
